Generationals announce State Dogs: Singles 2017-18 with a video for "Beggars in the House of Plenty"

a collection of bangers just 4 u awaits ~

Following the release of 2014’s Alix, Generationals decided to forego the traditional approach of writing, recording and releasing music in one large batch in favor of putting out singles as soon as they were completed, which resulted in a slew of standalone tracks throughout 2017 and 2018. Now, for the first time, these singles (along with an exclusive track) will receive a physical release via State Dogs: Singles 2017-18.

Though the songs on this collection were conceived at various times over the past couple of years, they stand together as a testament to Generationals’ songwriting prowess and ability to craft infectious melodies at any given moment. State Dogs will be released December 7, 2018. Pre-orders available now on limited edition vinyl, CD, and digital.

Watch "Beggars in the House of Plenty"

"Beggars in the House of Plenty" is a song about the perils of oligarchy and the disproportionate power of the wealthiest in our society. The video mocks the tropes and wankery of US Senate hearings which have often been cynically deployed to give a veil of legitimacy to the political theater of a fundamentally undemocratic body— after all, senators representing 16% of the US population can comprise a majority vote in the US Senate*. In fact, senators representing 44% of the US population recently confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Democracy baby
Since the time we made this video in mid-September, we watched the Kavanaugh hearings reinforce our underlying point: the US Senate is a theater where oligarchs grandstand and fake indignation in service of money and power, and in my view, it should be mocked, ridiculed, disrespected and ultimately abolished. Enjoy the video!
