Summer Fling, The Red Hot Valentines' second album, was recorded in January 2003 at Mark Rubel's Pogo Studios (Hum, Shiner) in Champaign. The album perfectly captures the band's blend of power-pop with an authenticity previously witnessed only through its live performances.

The "notebook" packaging theme was conceptualized by Gregg Bernstein (art designer for Braid, Volcano, I'm Still Excited!!, Aloha) at Hydrafuse. All of the photos inside were taken by the band with a Polaroid i-zone that the Polyvinyl staff picked up at Target for $20.

An appropriate title for this one, as it is simply oozing with the sort of carefree energy you would associate with cruising down the street with the windows down on the way to pick up your friends and go cause some trouble.

There's so much energy in this album, it's all you can do but keep from dancing like a spaz.

If they can come up with tunes this good so early in their career, just picture what the future will hold.

Jammed tight with Cars-like synth beats and crunchy guitar licks for a delectable mix of punk and pop.
